Sam’s Club gets to the heart of Valentine’s Day

2/11/2015

Sam’s Club is taking a different approach to Valentine’s Day promotions by offering customers the gift of good health.

According to a national survey, Americans plan to spend around $142 on Valentine’s Day this year for jewelry, candy and a special night out. What if, in addition to these, people could also give the gift of health to their loved ones this year without breaking the bank even more? Sam’s Club is making it possible this Valentine’s Day by offering free heart health screenings.

The retailer will be offering heart health screenings to both members and the public over the holiday weekend. The screenings are free, confidential and available at all Sam’s Club locations with a pharmacy (602 locations) on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The screenings are valued at $150 and include tests for:

  • Blood pressure

  • Total cholesterol

  • HDL (good cholesterol)

  • Risk ratio

  • Glucose

  • Body mass index (BMI)

  • Vision (not available at all locations)

“We spend so much time trying to come up with the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for our loved ones, but we often overlook the most important gift of all, the gift of good health,” said Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of Sam’s Club Health and Wellness. “Sam’s Club is committed to improving health and wellness in the communities we serve and we hope this month’s free heart health screening will be a simple but meaningful way people can show they care.”

Sam’s Club has 648 clubs in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
