Sales up for Walgreens in July
DEERFIELD, Ill. Walgreens had July sales of $4.42 billion, an increase of 11% from $4 billion for the same month in 2006. Sales in comparable-stores rose 7.2%.
July pharmacy sales increased 11.7%, while comparable-pharmacy sales increased 8.2%. Pharmacy sales accounted for 66.1% of total sales for the month. Comparable-store front-end sales increased 5.5% during July.
Calendar year-to-date sales were $31.3 billion, an increase of 12.3% from $27.9 billion in 2006.
Fiscal 2007 year-to-date sales for the 11 months were $49.1 billion, up 13.7% from $43.2 billion. Comparable-store sales for the fiscal year-to-date increased 8.3%.
