Saks unveils new specialty store concept

10/20/2016

Saks Fifth Avenue has opened its first standalone store dedicated exclusively to footwear.

The new 10022-Shoe is located in the affluent town of Greenwich, Connecticut, just around the corner from Saks’ main store, which has been open for 20 years. The one-level, 14,000-sq.-ft. shop features women’s footwear, with a strong focus on emerging and advanced designers. It was designed by the Saks Store Planning & Design team in collaboration with FRCH and is marked by the use of raw and industrial elements juxtaposed with natural light and a delicate color palette. A large-scale, glass ceiling sculpture anchors the space, and is complemented by white finishes, exposed brick and oak wood flooring.

The new shoe salon is the first of several planned specialty stores Saks plans to open in Greenwich. Saks will unveil a jewelry boutique, The Vault, in May 2017, and The Collective, for modern designer fashion in February 2017. It also will undertake a renovation of its main store complete in the second half of 2017.

“10022-SHOE Greenwich marks a new visionary concept for the brand,” stated Marc Metrick, president, Saks Fifth Avenue. “Moving key categories — shoes, jewelry, contemporary ready-to-wear — to their own specialty shops brings the luxury boutique experience to the next level.”
