Tracy Margolies has returned to Saks Fifth Avenue to leading the department store retailer’s merchandising efforts.
Margolies is no stranger to the Saks organization or upscale department store retailing. She spent the past two and a half years as a senior vice president and general merchandise manager at Bergdorf Goodman.
Prior to that, she spent seven years in Saks merchandising including a role as vice president and divisional merchandise manager of women’s footwear. Prior to her last stint at Saks she was with Bergdorf Goodman in various senior merchandising roles. In her latest role at Saks she will drive the strategic direction and performance of all buying activities and report to Saks President Marc Metrick.
"Tracy knows the Saks culture, has strong vendor partnerships and brings a built-in passion for the Saks brand. When the chief merchant position opened up at Saks I immediately thought of Tracy, and when I assumed my role as president she was my first call,” Metrick said. “I’m confident that she will help us elevate the brand and continue to drive our strategy forward.” Saks is a different company than when Margolies last worked there. Today, it is part of the Hudson’s Bay Company and has focused much of its growth efforts on the Off 5th format. Saks currently operates 39 full-line stores and 79 Off 5th stores.
"I’m thrilled to return to Saks Fifth Avenue, especially at such a pivotal time for the company,” Margolies said. “I have a strong appreciation for the Saks brand and the opportunities that lie ahead. I am excited to partner with Marc again, and work with the team to shape the future for Saks.”
