Safeway Recalls Beef

Tempe, Ariz., Safeway Inc. announced Thursday that it is voluntarily recalling several fresh ground beef products because they may be contaminated with the E. coli bacteria. All products are being sold at the Arizona stores only.

The recall is in response to Wednesday’s announcement by United Food Group, Calif., that it had expanded its recall of 75,000 pounds of ground beef to include an additional 370,000 pounds.
