Safeway debuts Citrine restaurant

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Safeway has opened its first freestanding restaurant behind its store in Redwood City, Calif. While there hasn't been much publicity for the project, the restaurant, Citrine, does have a Web site, located at www.citrinebistro.com, where consumers can find information on the products and services available to them.

According to the Citrine Web site, the restaurant offers a variety of cuisine including pacific rim, mediterranean, latin, American and new world. Citrine promises "local freshness with global flavor" and claims that its food is the freshest and best-prepared it can produce. 

Reportedly, Safeway is keeping quiet on the project because it is still in its testing phase.
