Spokane, Wash. -- Ecova, a total energy and sustainability management company, has been selected by Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets to provide utility expense and data management solutions, as well as carbon management solutions and Energy Star benchmarking.
Ecova will assist the retailer in monitoring and reducing energy use and reporting carbon emissions at approximately 165 locations. Roundy’s is a leading grocer in the Midwest that operates retail grocery stores and pharmacies under the Pick ’n Save, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano’s retail banners in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Leveraging the Ecova energy and sustainability management platform and the Ecova Big Data Warehouse, which contains over 2.5 billion points of energy data from more than 700,000 facilities and locations, Roundy’s will gain a better understanding of its energy consumption and cost to improve performance.
Additionally, Ecova will now include Roundy’s facilities in its Energy Star benchmarking service, where Ecova benchmarks over 70,000 buildings monthly in the program’s portfolio manager.
“As Roundy’s continues to expand, visibility into energy spend and consumption via the Ecova platform is critical for our operational efficiency and identifying where to focus capital improvements and the maintenance schedule,” said Kevin Christopherson, energy program manager for Roundy’s Supermarkets, which operates 165 stores under the Pick ’n Save, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano’s retail banners in Wisconsin and Illinois. “Ecova’s utility expense and data management solution, as well as their Energy Star benchmarking service, will help us better understand our energy consumption in order to improve efficiencies. The carbon management solution will assist us as we deliver on our commitment to improve our overall environmental performance.”
