Rite Aid’s same-store sales slip
Camp Hill, Pa. Rite Aid Corp. said Thursday its same-store sales slipped 0.6% in July, as the recession appeared to cut into sales of products at the front of the store.
For the four weeks ended July 25, Rite Aid said same-store pharmacy sales rose 1.4%, front-end sales fell 4.7%. The company said total sales fell 2.4%, to $1.93 billion from $1.98 billion.
Rite Aid said 68.1% of its revenue came from prescriptions.
The company had 4,817 drugstores as of July 25, down from 4,961 a year ago.
