Rite Aid to set up online consulting system

4/22/2010

New York City Rite Aid Corp. on Thursday entered an agreement with American Well that will allow some shoppers to have online consultations with pharmacists from home or inside Rite Aid stores, according to the Associated Press.

The companies said customers will be able to have live, interactive online consultants with Rite Aid pharmacists. Customers will be able to use the phone or Internet to contact a Rite Aid pharmacist from home, or from private consultation rooms in some stores. The pharmacists will be able to review the caller's medical history, speak with or see the patient, and provide consultations and advice.

American Well's system will create a full record of each call, the companies said.

Rite Aid and American Well did not disclose financial terms or say how many stores were involved.
