Rite Aid same-store sales up 1%
CAMP HILL, Pa. Rite Aid today reported that same-store sales for the five weeks ended Sept. 1 increased 1% over the prior year period. Pharmacy same-store sales increased 1.5%. Front-end same-store sales were flat.
Total drug store sales for the five-week period increased 52.9% to $2.5 billion compared to $1.6 billion for the same period last year. Prescription revenue accounted for 68.2% of drug store sales, and third party prescription revenue represented approximately 95.9% of pharmacy sales.
Same-store sales for the 13-week quarter ended Sept. 1 increased 1.1% over the prior year quarter. Pharmacy same-store sales increased 1.4%. Front-end same store sales were up 0.6%.
Total drug store sales for the quarter increased 54.1% to $6.57 billion from $4.27 billion in last year's second quarter. Prescription revenue accounted for 67.4% of total drug store sales, and third party prescription revenue was 95.9% of pharmacy sales.
Same-store sales for the 26-week period ended Sept. 1 increased 1.7%, consisting of a 2.1% pharmacy same-store sales increase and a 1.1% increase in front-end same-store sales.
Total drug store sales for the 26 weeks ended Sept. 1, increased 28.3% to $11.01 billion from $8.58 billion in last year's like period. Prescription revenue accounted for 66.2% of total drug store sales, and third party prescription revenue was approximately 95.8% of pharmacy sales.
