Rite Aid monthly same-store sales improve
Camp Hill, Pa. – Rite Aid reported a slight boost in monthly same-store sales but a decreased in year-to-date same-store sales. For the four weeks ended June 29, 2013, same-store sales increased 0.7% from the prior-year period. June front-end same store sales increased 0.4%, while pharmacy same store sales increased 0.9% despite the negative impact of generics.
Total drugstore sales for the four-week period increased 0.2% to almost $1.93 billion. Prescription sales accounted for 67.4% of drugstore sales and third-party prescription sales represented 97% of pharmacy sales.
In addition, same-store sales for the 17-week period ended June 29, 2013 decreased 1.7% from the prior-year period. Front-end same-store sales increased 0.4% while pharmacy same-store sales decreased 2.7%.
Total drugstore sales for the 17 weeks ended June 29, 2013 decreased 2.1% with sales of $8.19 billion compared to $8.36 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales represented 67.5% of total drugstore sales and third-party prescription sales represented 97% of pharmacy sales.
