Rite Aid exits Vegas, Walgreens buys pharmacy files
CAMP HILL, Pa. Rite Aid is exiting the Las Vegas area and has agreed to sell patient prescription files of 27 of its 28 stores in the market to Walgreens. Rite Aid said the move was made because the market has not been contributing to overall results.
Rite Aid said it is in the process of also selling the prescription files of the one store it operates in Mesquite, Nevada and will also close that store.
Rite Aid will continue to operate its store in Gardnerville, Nev., which is closer to the California market where the company operates more than 600 stores. Rite Aid said it will continue to operate its remaining store in Nevada in Gardnerville, which is close to the border of California where Rite Aid has more than 600 stores.
The company hasn’t opened a new store in the Las Vegas area since 1999.
