1/9/2015

To simplify retailers’ IT environments while helping them deliver the commerce anywhere experience consumers expect, Oracle unveiled enhancements to its retail portfolio with the launch of Oracle Retail Release14.1. This release builds on Oracle’s strategy for the combination of Oracle and MICROS, as well as its retail offerings in the cloud.

“Oracle is committed to supporting our retail customers, who need to be operationally fit and efficient to continue to adapt in a rapidly evolving market place, manage ever-changing customer expectations and increase revenue,” said Mike Webster, senior VP and general manager, Oracle Retail. “In extending the functionality of our retail suite, we continue to strengthen our retail-specific offering and support retailers in the provision of commerce anywhere.”

Oracle Retail Release 14.1 delivers enhanced functionality that strengthens retailers’ ability to support commerce anywhere. By further integrating digital and physical environments to connect experiences across channels, the Oracle Retail solution enables retailers to support interactions and transactions anywhere, at any time and on any device.

The Oracle Retail solution offers several competitive differentiators for retailers looking to meet the requirements of today’s complex consumer journeys:

• New functionality supporting optimized inventory management and endless aisle visibility strengthens retailers’ ability to enable consumers to purchase what, how and when they want while providing store associates with information they need to save the sale.

• Enhanced mobile capabilities and improved commerce integration deliver better shopping experiences across all channels and devices.

• Business user interfaces are simplified and intuitive with role-based workflows and dashboards leveraging in-context, data-driven best practices.

• Unrivaled retail science is now embedded throughout the Oracle Retail Planning Application Server driving improvements in automation, forecasting, and optimization.

• The enhanced enterprise platform also enables retailers to more easily manage rapidly evolving business processes, multiple business models, and expansion into new assortments, channels, and countries with simplified integration between Oracle Retail Planning and Oracle Retail Merchandising.

• The Oracle Retail Reference Library, a collection of detailed implementation information that includes business process models, architectural diagrams, and more, has also been updated to incorporate all key enhancements in the latest release.

Delivering New Retail Possibilities

The addition of MICROS solutions to the Oracle Retail footprint enables greater and more profitable Commerce Anywhere strategies with expanded point-of-service functionality, a cloud-based commerce solution and a retail-rich customer relationship management portfolio.

“Oracle and MICROS will help retailers respond to rapidly evolving customer expectations, increase revenue, and drive operational improvements with complete, open, and integrated solutions," said Webster. "Our customers will appreciate our deep domain expertise as we deliver mission-critical solutions to solve our customers most important business initiatives."

The MICROS solutions extend Oracle Retail’s functionality to include additional cloud-based solutions for brand compliance management, loss prevention, order management, order broker and workforce management.
