Retailers report June sales

New York -- Although the list of retailers reporting monthly sales has grown considerably slim over the past few years, a handful are still going public with the metric.



Costco Wholesale Corp. announced on Thursday that its same-store sales fell 1% in June, following a 1% drop in its most recent quarter (ended May 1), which was the chain’s first quarterly drop since 2009.



Costco reported an 8% decline in international same-store sales, while U.S. same-store sales rose 3%. When the effects of lower gas prices and adverse foreign exchange rates are removed, Costco’s overall same-store sales rose 6% in June.



Other retailers reporting sales for the five-week period ended July 4, 2015 include:



• Gap Inc.’s net sales reached were $1.54 billion, flat compared with June 2014.



June same-store sales for Gap were down 1%, versus a 2% decrease last year. By brand, June same-store sales for the Gap brand fell 5%, while comparable-sales for the company's Banana Republic brand rose 1% and the Old Navy brand rose 1%.

City



• L Brands’ net sales increased 3% to $1.207 billion for the five weeks ended July 4, 2015, compared to net sales of $1.176 billion for the year-ago period. Comparable store sales for the increased 3%.



• The Cato Corp. has sales of $93.8 million for the five weeks ended July 4, 2015, a 2% increase over sales of $92.0 million for the five weeks ended July 5, 2014. Same-store sales for the five-week period were flat to last year.



• The Buckle’s same-store sales for the 5-week period ended July 4, 2015 increased 0.5% over the same period last year. Net sales for the five-week fiscal month ended July 4, 2015 increased 2.7% to $87.1 million from net sales of $84.8 million last year.



• Stein Mart reported of $121.7 million, a 7.5% over last year. Comparable store sales for the period increased 5.8%, from June 2014.
