Retail Ventures moves to profit in Q4

Columbus, Ohio Retail Ventures reported Wednesday that it moved to a profit in its fourth quarter as sales improved at its DSW show stores

The company earned $4.9 million for the quarter that ended Jan. 30, compared with a loss of $8.8 million in the same quarter of the prior year. Revenue grew to $402.6 million from $348.2 million.

Same-store sales at DSW stores rose 12.9% during the fourth quarter.

For the full year, the company posted a loss of $26 million, compared with a profit of $50.8 million in the prior year.

Revenue grew to $1.6 billion from $1.5 billion.
