Retail real estate leader Simon taps new premium outlets chief

7/15/2014

Simon, a global leader in retail real estate, has appointed retail and real estate executive Stephen Yalof as CEO of premium outlets and senior EVP of Simon.

Yalof has served as SVP of real estate for Ralph Lauren Corporation since 2002. His 15 years of experience within the retail industry also includes his role as senior director of real estate for Gap. Yalof began his career in real estate under the leadership of Arnold Labich at New Plan Realty Trust, and became VP of leasing for their factory outlet business.

"Steve is a highly regarded executive with a track record of success within the retail real estate industry," said David Simon, chairman and CEO of Simon. "His experience working at two of the largest global retailers will contribute significant value to our growth strategy for this business, and further enhances our strong Premium Outlets team including chief operating officer Mark Silvestri."

"It is an honor to join what I view as the best-in-class team in the business," said Yalof. "I am hopeful that my retail perspective can open up new doors and help generate additional opportunities and benefits for Simon and our retailers."

Yalof earned a B.S. in business administration at George Washington University. He succeeds John Klein, who retired from Simon at the end of June, and will be based in Simon's New York office starting in September.
