Report: U.S. Electronic Retailers' Performance Jumps

San Jose, Calif. Tech Channel Index on Wednesday reported that after enduring a tough holiday shopping season, U.S. electronic retailers had their first week of marked improvement finishing the week of Jan. 3 just 2% below last year's sales of consumer IT and entertainment electronics products. This is a large jump after finishing the holiday shopping season 28% below last year.

In its “Road to Recovery” series of reports, Tech Channel Index is tracking and comparing the performance of technology sales within four major retail channels: Electronics, broadline, office supply and online retail sales.

Preliminary insights from the report show both broadline and office supply retail channel sales of consumer IT and entertainment electronics improving 28% and 4% respectively over the last year. During the same time period, online retail sales channel stayed flat through the holiday shopping season and finished down 4% over last year.
