Report: Tesco’s incoming CEO uncertain about Fresh & Easy’s future
New York City The future of Tesco's Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is not certain, according to Philip Clarke, who will become Tesco's CEO in March. In an article in Sunday's Financial Times of London, Clarke said he wants to be able to make up his own mind about Tesco’s U.S. division after he has the opportunity to view Fresh & Easy “up close.”
“I am not going to be drawn on what is going to happen when I am chief executive because I need the chance to go and look,” Clarke said, according to the report.
The same article also had comments from Tesco’s current CEO, Terry Leahy, who said he expects Fresh & Easy will be a success and that he expects Clarke to continue to expand the chain.
