Report: Target considers wind power in W. Palm Beach
New York City Target is considering installing a 100-ft. windmill next to its store in West Palm Beach, Fla., The Palm Beach Post reported. The store is due to open in October.
According to the report, Target wants to put its signature bull's-eye logo at the top of the windmill, which it hopes will provide 5% of the energy needed to run the 150,000-sq.-ft. building.
The windmill reportedly would feature a turbine using two short, curved blades that spin on a vertical axis, not the long, helicopter-like blades usually associated with windmill farms.
In the report, Target acknowledged that it is discussions with SkyDrill Power Systems, Fort Worth Texas, to incorporate a renewable-energy system at the West Palm Beach store, but it declined to provide details.
