Report: Starbucks to Close 45 In-Store Grocery Locations
Seattle Starbucks Corp. plans to close 45 coffee stands that operate inside Save Mart Supermarket and Lucky Supermarket locations, according to Marketwatch.com.
Starbucks ended a license deal that involves the 45 sites located in Northern California and Nevada. The coffee giant has already started closing some of the stands. A Starbucks spokesperson said the closures will be complete in coming weeks, noting that the closures are not part of the 100 underperforming U.S. stores Starbucks has planned to shutter by September. For fiscal 2008, Starbucks expects to open 525 stores under license agreements.
