Amazon’s fashion journey may have just hit a bump in the road.
Cathy Beaudoin, the online giant’s president of fashion, has left her post — a position she has held for eight years, reported
Business of Fashion. Beaudoin, who was tasked with positioning Amazon as a force in the apparel category, was responsible for onboarding thousands of brands, and overseeing the launch of Amazon’s Williamsburg photography studio — a facility that shoots images of merchandise sold online, the report said.
In 2008, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos hired Beaudoin, who was the co-founder of Gap’s e-commerce brand Piperlime, to lead the company’s journey into the fashion market. She was named president of Amazon’s fashion division in 2012.
“Cathy Beaudoin has decided to step down from her position as president of Amazon Fashion,” an Amazon spokesperson said in the report. Given the momentum of the business and strength of the team, she’s decided now is the right time to pass the baton.”
A successor has not yet been named.
