Report: Numerous Fresh & Easy Stores needed

LONDON Steve Webb, Tesco's investor relations representative said that the company will need several hundred stores in the United States to cover the expenses from the company's distribution center in Riverside, Calif., according to reports.

Speaking at a conference in London organized by Piper Jaffray, Webb reportedly said that the company would need "a substantial number of stores in the area to recover the costs" and specified this would mean hundreds of stores. 

In April, Tesco announced its U.S. debut with Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market. The first stores are scheduled to open in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Southern California.
