Report: Jack in the Box adds kiosk technology

6/5/2009

San Diego A Phoenix-based Jack in the Box restaurant is using kiosk technology to streamline the ordering process, according to an article in QSR magazine.

The unit, from San Diego-based EMN8, has a colorful, graphics-filled menu and touchscreen that help shoppers place orders. The kiosk, which sits next to the checkout counter, is integrated into the restaurant’s order-processing system, the article said.

Until shoppers get used to the technology, the store is offering a free menu item or free item upgrade with each kiosk order. These incentives seem to be working as the kiosks are generating more than 100 orders per day.

The restaurant finds the units most hopeful during peak times of the day, franchise president Steve Stine said in the article.
