Report: Home Depot targets female clientele

ATLANTA Home Depot is targeting the female consumer. According to reports, the retailer is looking to increase its female client base by opening two Home Depot Design Centers that offer a more intimate experience compared with its traditional warehouse stores.

The stores will open in Concord, Calif. and Charlotte, N.C. this October, reports indicate and will feature modifications to Home Depot's traditional design such as replacing the retailer's well-known orange with earth tones. Notably absent at the Home Depot Design Centers will be lumber, building materials and heavy-duty tools. Instead, the sote will feature items such as pottery, upscale furniture and orchids.
