Report: Cart abandonment highest among mobile holiday users

11/30/2016

Cart abandonment is a very real problem during the holiday season, but mobile users are giving up on orders most often.

These details were revealed in an infographic from Barilliance that detailed shopping behavior among 50 million consumers between Nov. 25 and Nov. 28.

The average global cart abandonment rate during Black Friday-Cyber Monday weekend was 68.8%. Mobile shoppers lead the charge, even surpassing average abandonment, as they relinquished orders at 78.1% rate. This was followed by desktops (63.8%), and tablets (64.5%), data showed.

Determined not to leave that wallet share on the table, retailers retargeted these shoppers with emails to bring them back to their brand. These efforts contributed to 17.6% conversions. The highest conversions were achieved on desktop (20.8%), with 18.6% conversions, the data revealed.
