Report: Barnes & Noble not to make Borders bid

NEW YORK Barnes & Noble has no definitive plans to make a bid for Borders Group, The Wall Street Journal reported. According to the Journal Barnes & Noble's decision was due in part to the difficulty in securing financing in the tight lending markets.

In May, Borders announced that it was considering strategic alternatives and did not intend to comment while the process is ongoing.
