New York - Fashion retailer Rent the Runway has hired industry veteran Chris Halkyard as the company's first chief logistics officer, effective Aug. 1. In his role, Halkyard will oversee Rent the Runway's logistics platform, including the company's proprietary reverse-logistics operations and transportation network.

"We're elated to have Mr. Halkyard join the Rent the Runway team," said Jennifer Hyman, CEO and co-founder, Rent the Runway. "He has amazing experience in distribution and logistics which will allow us to innovate on the ways we continue to deliver rental experiences that exceed our customers’ expectations."

Halkyard has more than 25 years of experience with supply chain management and distribution. He joins Rent the Runway from Gilt, where he most recently served as chief supply chain officer and general manager of distribution services.

Before Gilt, Halkyard held a range of logistics roles at Marc Ecko, L'Occitane, FAO Schwarz, and the May Department Stores (now Macy's).

Rent the Runway employs a unique business model that allows customers to rent designer clothing and accessories via platforms such as online, mobile, and retail locations in New York, Washington, D.C., Las Vegas and Chicago.
