Regional Retailer Expands Prepaid Products

12/1/2007

Convenience store retailer Stewart’s Shops, based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., signed a multi-year agreement with PaySpot, Leawood, Kan., for electronic prepaid products that will be delivered through Stewart’s existing POS system.

Before PaySpot, the only prepaid product offered by Stewart’s was a long-distance carrier’s calling cards. Under the new agreement, Stewart’s will continue to have that carrier’s prepaid calling cards, now facilitated through PaySpot, as well as cards from other long-distance carriers, and a prepaid wireless suite from more than 40 wireless carriers.

The prepaid cards are delivered via Stewart’s existing POS system, through a seamless integration that eliminates the need for additional hardware. Store associates can sell, recharge, refund and disable prepaid products directly from the POS.

Stewart’s is an employee- and family-owned business with 326 c-stores in upstate New York and Vermont.
