Regional grocer offers the personal touch

Niemann Foods, a 100-plus-store independent supermarket chain headquartered in Quincy, Illinois, is individually engaging customers wherever they are.



The grocer is leveraging technology from cloud-based engagement and analytics platform provider Birdzi to reach shoppers with targeted offers at home, in stores and on the go. Specific Birdzi tools Niemann Foods is using include an offer management portal for creating digital promotions and campaigns, individualized campaign analytics, and the View feature which gives a view into sales performance across different categories, brands, geographies and customer segments.



In addition, Niemann Foods employs the Offer Genius personalization engine to correlate transaction data with data from sources such as its mobile app and in-store beacons to create individual shopper profiles its uses to score the relevancy of offers.



“Birdzi’s latest features allow us to deliver even more accurate, hyper-personalized offers to our shoppers,” said Nathaniel Jones, electronic marketing manager, Niemann Foods. “The platform enables us to compete with larger grocers in our market and has helped us increase shopper engagement, with the average app user spending 21% more than the average customer who doesn’t use our app.”
