RadioShack holiday initiatives: price match and new payment options

Radio Shack is launching its new “R Promise” initiative to offer holiday shoppers services including price matching and new payment options. Radio Shack stores will match prices on identical products from local brick-and-mortar competitors, major online retailers (excluding wireless phones from online retailers) and RadioShack.com at the time of purchase or within 15 days of the purchase.


Also, if a local RadioShack is out of stock on a gift and it is in stock at another RadioShack location, associates ship it directly to the consumer for free. And two new monthly pay programs are now available. RadioShack has relaunched its RadioShack credit card, and the new SmartPay everyday leasing option lets customers get immediate approval to acquire electronic devices and pay for them over time with fixed payments.


SmartPay also offers 90 days same-as-cash and $0 upfront to qualified customers. SmartPay also offers online or mail-in payment options, instead of requiring consumers to visit the store multiple times to make payments.


"Our exclusive lineup of Christmas gifts, expanded assortment of private-label products and new industry-leading payment options make RadioShack the smart place to shop this season," Joe Magnacca, chief executive officer at RadioShack, said in a statement. "RadioShack's knowledgeable associates are ready to serve customers to ensure they find the perfect gift at the right price with our expanded price-match guarantee."


In related news, ApplePay is now available 900 RadioShack locations across Manhattan, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, with additional markets to follow in 2015.
