Publix says no to layoffs
With companies laying off employees left and right, those that retain their workers stand out. According to reports, one such company is Florida-based supermarket chain Publix.
Reportedly, Publix, which employs 144,000 employees has never laid off anyone because of financial difficulties and doesn't plan to start now. The tradition of avoiding mass layoffs began with company founder George Jenkins, who believed in the idea of taking care of his associates.
