Publix Prepared with Generators
Miami, Publix Super Markets is gearing up for hurricane season in South Florida. The chain has installed generators at 127 stores in the company's Miami division, which stretches from Key West to Vero Beach, according to The Miami Herald. By the end of July, Publix hopes to install generators in all 146 stores in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, the report said.
In March 2006, Publix announced plans to install 400 full-store generators in stores throughout the chain and have access to another 40 mobile generators that can be moved around after a storm as needed. The project is expected to cost $100 million, according to the report.
