Publix offers DVD rental kiosks in Florida

LAKELAND, Fla. Publix has implemented DVD rental kiosks for its stores in two of its Florida stores, the company announced this week.

At the chain’s Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast stores, shoppers can rent DVDs for $1 per night.

The DVD rental kiosks in Publix stores have become increasingly popular because of its low price and the fact that customers are not locked into a monthly fee for subscription services, no do they need a membership card.

"We found a niche that was missing with home entertainment," said Tracy Walker, sales and marketing director for kiosk operator, TNR Entertainment Corp. "Rental was kind of a hassle. We listened to everything that the consumer was saying."
