Publix enters South Carolina market

10/3/2013

Publix is heading to South Carolina with two stores which will be located in North Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island.

The first lease is for North Myrtle Beach located in the Coastal North Town Center at Hwy. 17 and Moss Place. The store will be a 49,000-sq.-ft. Publix supermarket and is expected to open in late 2014.

The second lease is for Pawleys Island in the Pawleys Island Plaza at Hwy 17 and Petigru Drive. The store, part of a redevelopment of an existing shopping center, will be a 45,000-sq.-ft. Publix supermarket and is expected to open in early 2015.

“We look forward to providing South Carolina residents and visitors alike with the high-quality service, products and active community involvement that Publix has become known for in our areas of operation and beyond,” said Chuck Roskovich, Publix divisional VP.

The grand opening dates for both locations will depend on several factors, including permitting and completion of the store’s construction.

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 160,500 employees, with 2012 sales of $27.5 billion.
