Publix 2Q Sales Up 3.5%

Lakeland, Fla. Publix announced that sales for its second quarter of 2008 were $5.9 billion, up 3.5% from $5.7 billion last year. Same-store sales for the quarter increased 1.3%.

Meanwhile, net earnings for the second quarter were down 3.5% to $295.8 million this year, compared to $306.4 million in 2007.
