Price Chopper optimizes pricing strategy chainwide

Schenectady, N.Y. Price Chopper is adding a price-optimization solution.

Like many supermarket retailers, Price Chopper was eager to optimize its pricing and marketing decisions to reach sales volume, revenue and profitability goals. After evaluating available solutions in the marketplace, Price Chopper chose the Lifecycle Price Optimization solution, from San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec.

The solution is designed to manage pricing across each store’s categories. Meanwhile, the technology’s Promotion Planning & Optimization and Markdown Optimization modules will allow help the grocer to strategically price items at any stage in their lifecycle, including new items, promoted products and clearance merchandise.

The solution will be used chainwide across all 116 stores.
