Plus-size retailer engages potential shoppers with video series

5/31/2013

GLEN ARM, Md. — Plus-size retailer Ulla Popken is looking to engage existing customers while enticing new ones to check out its e-commerce site via an online campaign that celebrates women of all sizes.

The series of just-released videos encourages potential shoppers to dress in a manner that reflects their personalities.

"Our customers typically are not wallflowers," said president Phyliss Mosca. "They have so many amazing qualities; they are unique, artistic, spiritual and connected. We want to celebrate their inimitable beauty and strength by providing stylish, exclusive designs which reflect their best qualities."

In one of the videos, Mosca explains that the Ulla Popken mission is "to encourage women not to put their lives on hold. We all have struggles, we all have fears, we all have weaknesses, but we want to encourage women to go for it! Life is short." She further encourages women to "really embrace the moment and move beyond those fears, beyond those insecurities to be the best they can be."

The company has made the videos available via its community website as well as on its YouTube Channel.

"We believe, wholeheartedly, Ulla Popken is the absolute best choice in plus size clothing but it is about so much more than just the clothing," Mosca said. "We seek to celebrate and empower women in everything we do, and we hope this video series really lets women know the heart and soul behind what we do and why we do it."

Ulla Popken carries women's clothing in sizes 12W-38W. Initially a German retailer with more than 320 stores in Europe, Ulla Popken founded its U.S. headquarters in Glen Arm, Md., in 1993 and serves customers through catalog and e-commerce.
