Plans for another Amazon warehouse underway
Amazon is getting ready to break ground on yet another new fulfillment center — its first in Colorado.
The one million-sq.-ft. facility being constructed in Aurora is expected to create more than 1,000 new full-time jobs. Associates at the Aurora warehouse will pick, pack and ship larger customer items, such as sports equipment, musical instruments and furniture.
Amazon already operates a sortation center in the same city, which employs “hundreds of associates,” the company said.
These positions will pay salaries that are “30% higher than traditional retail jobs and [associates] receive comprehensive benefits starting on day one,” said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s VP of North America operations.
Associates can also take advantage of the retailer’s Career Choice program, where Amazon pre-pays 95% tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at the company, the company said.
