Philips rolls out industry’s most sustainable lamp for T5 high output applications

4/20/2009

Philips Lighting Co. announced the introduction of its highly sustainable new 49-Watt fluorescent lamp for T5 high output applications. Ideal for high-bay applications within retail big-box and warehouse/industrial spaces, Philips Lighting’s new Energy Advantage 49-Watt T5 HO lamp currently represents both the industry’s lowest wattage and lowest mercury alternative to 54-Watt T5 HO technology -- all with no sacrifice to light output, lamp life, or performance.

Offering professional users an immediate savings of 50-Watts (or 9.3%) when switching from a standard T5 HO 54-Watt lamp, Philips Lighting’s new Energy Advantage 49-Watt lamp can deliver over $17 in energy-cost savings over the 35,000-hour rated average life of the lamp (on 12-hour starts and with a $.10 kWh cost).

In addition to representing the lowest energy-consuming alternative to a T5 HO 54 Watt lamp available today, Philips’ new Energy Advantage 49-Watt lamp, containing only 1.4 mg of mercury per lamp, also stands as the lowest mercury T5 lamp currently available in the industry and represents a new standard in environmentally sustainable T5 high output lighting. Available in 3000K, 3500K, 4100K, and 5000K color temperatures, Philips’ 49-Watt lamp features high lumen maintenance of 95% and a Color Rendering Index of 82-85 and maximizes design flexibility while helping to support the achievement of energy objectives such as LEED certification.
