PetSmart hosts national adoption weekend

5/7/2015

Spring is in full swing, and PetSmart wants its customers to celebrate new beginnings by adopting a new pet.

The retailer will be hosting a national adoption weekend between May 15 and May 17 at all PetSmart stores. More than 3,000 animal welfare organizations will be on-site at all 1,400 PetSmart stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to help customers find the perfect furry companion.

"Adopting a pet is an incredibly rewarding experience and lifetime commitment," said Julie White, senior director of programs, PetSmart Charities. "We're fortunate to have dedicated adoption partners who help bring this rewarding experience to thousands of families each National Adoption Weekend."

To help adoptable pets make their best first impressions with potential adopters, PetSmart is teaming up with local animal welfare organizations to provide grooming services to pets in select locations in Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, Dallas and Philadelphia. See their "before and after" transformations by following PetSmart on Twitter.

"PetSmart is proud to serve as a partner for families as they begin a new journey with an adopted pet, and PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend may be the perfect time to consider saving a life by adopting," said Michael Massey, president and chief executive officer, PetSmart.

PetSmart Charities is a 501(c)(3) organization, separate from PetSmart, Inc.
