Longtime Hallmark executive Michael Goodwin was named chief information officer at the nation’s largest pet specialty retailer.

Goodwin will become SVP and CIO at PetSmart effective June 2, after previously serving as SVP and CIO of technology and business enablement at Hallmark, a $4 billion company with more than 2,600 stores and an extensive online presence. PetSmart operates 1,333 stores.

“We’re very excited to welcome Mike to the PetSmart team,” said David Lenhardt, PetSmart’s president and CEO. “He has deep expertise in both traditional and emerging technologies and business capabilities, with a proven ability to create and lead an agile organization that explores and deploys innovative concepts quickly.”

Goodwin began his career at Hallmark as an end-user technology analyst in 1990 and held positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to Hallmark, Goodwin served as an officer in the United States Army and earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., and an MBA from the University of Kansas.
