Petco: where the raw food pets go?

Petco is leveraging the popularity of raw pet food by launching a series of educational events at some of its stores.

Starting on March 2, on the first Monday of each month, Unleashed by Petco stores will sample a variety of frozen, dehydrated and freeze-dried raw food and treats and educate customers on the health benefits of raw food as part of the Monday Night Raw Next-Level Nutrition event series.

"Raw food and treats for dogs and cats continues to be a growing trend in the pet natural food category," said Jeremy Fibiger, Manager Food & Treats, Unleashed by Petco. "Unleashed by Petco is committed to inspiring and educating pet parents about nutrition offerings that will lead to a healthier, higher quality of life for their pets."

Petco says the Monday Night Raw Next-Level Nutrition events will allow customers to learn how to create a great feeding experience for their pet with raw food and treats and discover the benefits of raw with a variety of samples of food and treats sold in Unleashed by Petco stores including Nature's Variety frozen raw, I and Love and You dehydrated raw and various dehydrated and freeze-dried treats.

As the safety and health benefits of food and treats continue to be top concerns for pet owners, many consumers are unaware of the nutritional benefits of raw pet foods and treats, including aiding good digestion, a soft shiny coat, ideal body weight, energy and vitality, Petco says.

Petco operates more than 1,200 stores in 50 states.
