Petco appeals to new pet parents with omnichannel campaign

Petco is launching an omnichannel campaign in support of a new program designed to appeal to its target market: pet parents.


Petco's new and free Welcome to the Family Program supports all new pet parents, complete with a companion care pack, information on proper pet care and 24/7 support. The program helps pet parents as they expand their brood and embark on new adventures with the newest addition to their family.


"Pets bring so much love and joy to our lives and we absolutely love helping pet parents get off to a good start when they make the decision to bring a new pet home," said Brad Weston, president and chief merchant for Petco. "We take great pride in providing all the tools and support pet parents need to make their new addition feel like part of the family, while also being there over the long-haul as their pets grow and mature."


The Welcome to the Family program celebrates new pet parents of all kinds of animals - not just dogs - by providing 360-degree care to help new pets adjust to their new home. The program provides engaging and educational tips on animal care essentials including diet, sleep time, grooming and vaccinations. The informative new pet checklists can help pet parents ensure they are prepared with the knowledge and supplies to make the first few days with their new loved one a success. The program also includes a free reusable shopping bag and a $20 Shutterfly coupon, perfect for documenting all your pet's "firsts."


Welcome to the Family is a complementary addition to Petco's nationwide adoption program that includes monthly in-store adoption events for pet parents looking to give a furry friend a forever home. Petco encourages interested pet parents to search adoptable pets through Adopt-a-Pet's nationwide online database of almost 300,000 animals looking for forever homes.


Beginning this week, Petco will be bringing the Welcome to the Family program to life through broadcast and digital advertising, as well as through its social channels and in-store at the more than 1,430 Petco and Unleashed by Petco locations nationwide.
