PETCO and MasterCard team up
SAN DIEGO MasterCard PayPass, the contactless payment option, is now accepted “where the pets go.”
According to a report released Monday, MasterCard Worldwide and pet chain PETCO announced that MasterCard PayPass can be utilized at all of PETCO's nearly 900 stores located in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
"We understand the time and attention that a pet can demand, so we try to make life a little easier for our customers," said J. Smith, PETCO's vp of network and store systems.
Customers can now simply tap their PayPass-enabled card or device on the PayPass reader and complete their transaction more quickly and efficiently. Purchases under $25 will not require the customer to sign the receipt, further speeding up the transaction. Though this new development will be featured at stores nationwide, PETCO will continue to accept traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards.
