Pep Boys shifts inventory management into high gear
Philadelphia - Pep Boys is shifting its inventory management efforts into high gear.
The auto parts retailer is deploying the 4R Systems Inc. retail inventory solution across its 800-plus stores in 35 states and Puerto Rico.
Pep Boys holds 16 million SKUs on replenishment, and 4R's scientific algorithm matches supply with demand for each SKU throughout the entire omnichannel supply chain. The system is designed to deliver an improved customer experience and improved financial results.
Pep Boys is seeking to improve its inventory management system. The retailer's inventory includes both a deep line of products with slow turns and others, like tires, that turn quickly and have demand substitutability. These variables add to the complexity of having the right inventory levels in each store without the risk of overstocking, or worse, having out-of-stocks, resulting in lost sales.
4R's analytics and client support teams continually analyze assortments against 4R's scientific algorithm, to optimize both width and depth. Pep Boys found 4R's solution appealing because it required no capital investment, nor additional staff.
"Simply put, 4R is providing better answers to our inventory challenges," said Camille A. Fratanduono, VP merchandising operations. "Our store operations team and customers have already responded favorably to the positive changes that we've made."
