People moves in logistics land
Greatwide Logistics named a new CEO, and YRC Worldwide named a new SVP on Monday.
Greatwide said John Tague would serve as CEO, replacing Leo Suggs who is retiring, but will continue to serve as chairman. Tague previously served as president of United Airlines and also held the position of COO and chief revenue office during his eight years with the airline.
“As the former president of United Airlines, John Tague brings successful experience managing and growing a large, sophisticated logistics operation. Greatwide's customers will benefit from John's expertise as the company expands its leadership position in the logistics industry,” Suggs said.
Greatwide is one of the nation’s largest third party logistics providers and the largest provider of dedicated refrigerated transportation in the United States.
In other logistics news, YRC Worldwide said it named Christopher Wren as SVP and treasurer. Wren joins the provider of transportation and global logistics services from the consulting firm Power I.T. where he served as president. Prior to that he held the role of VP of corporate development for H&R Block.
“(Wren’s) expertise in operations, technology and legal, along with his proven ability to quickly develop strategic relationships, see the big picture and provide effective solutions makes him a perfect choice for this position,” said Bill Trubeck, interim executive vice president and CFO of YRC.
