PayPal Holdings has expanded its growing foothold in physical retail.
The payments services company has entered into a partnership with MasterCard that will allow shoppers to use PayPal’s services in stores. In July, PayPal signed a similar agreement with Visa.
“With each partnership agreement that we sign, we further expand the ubiquity and value of the PayPal brand and improve our own economics,” said Dan Schulman, president and CEO, PayPal. “MasterCard has been a trusted partner for many years. By collaborating and innovating together we will continue to help move digital payments forward and improve payment experiences for our mutual customers.”
The agreement will make MasterCard a clear payment option within PayPal, increase PayPal’s presence at point-of-sale in physical stores, and will enable Masterpass (MasterCard’s digital wallet) as a payment option for PayPal’s Braintree merchants, according to

PayPal will also share data on any transactions that use the MasterCard mobile tap.
