Papa John's hits $2B online-ordering milestone
Louisville, Ky. Papa John's International passed the $2 billion mark Monday for orders submitted online, two years after hitting the $1 billion milestone.
The company predicted in 2008 that it would take until 2011 for its online sales to hit $2 billion. It said its online sales grew more than 50% each year from 2001 through 2007.
One-fourth of Papa John's sales come from online orders or those placed by text message or other methods using mobile devices. The company has received more than $17 million in mobile sales since late 2008.
The company said it believes these orders could one day make up the bulk of its sales, replacing telephone orders.
Customers already can plan online orders up to three weeks in advance or call up their most recent order and repeat it.
