Overstock.com adds eyeglasses to online assortment

Discount online shopping retailer Overstock.com has added prescription brand-name glasses and sunglasses to its website.



"Adding prescription eyewear to the Overstock website, with great names at great prices, seemed a natural fit," states Overstock.com chairman and CEO Patrick M. Byrne. "Unbeatable prices, fashionable styles, ease of ordering, stellar customer service, made the whole concept work for us and for our customers."



Overstock.com customers can choose from a selection of trend-conscious, brand-name men's and women's eyewear frames. Once added to the shopping cart, customers use a custom three-step tool at checkout to enter their prescription and choose lens type and lens options. For help with any questions or problems, a service agent is available at the number provided on the screen. The eyeglass component of the site is made possible through partnering with Canadian-based Coastal, one of the largest eyewear manufacturers and distributors in Canada and the U.S.



Shipping is free to all Overstock.com customers for orders of $50 or more. Shipping on orders under $50 is $2.95, regardless of the number of items ordered. Members of Club O, Overstock.com's loyalty program, receive free shipping and at least 5% in reward dollars on all purchases, 15% in reward dollars on book purchases and 25% in reward dollars on select products. Club O memberships are available for $19.95 per year and free to members of the United States Armed Forces.
