Amazon’s fifth bookstore is open for business.
The online giant’s newest Amazon Books location, a 6,000-sq.-ft. space, has opened its doors in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood — its first location in the Midwest. The location is also the second Amazon Books to include a coffee shop.
Amazon’s commitment to its Amazon Books brick-and-mortar stores shows no signs of slowing. Additional locations planned for this year include Garden State Plaza, Paramus, New Jersey; Shops at Columbus Circle, New York City; and two stores in the greater Boston area.
Amazon Books resembles a traditional bookstore, but uses online data to determine which titles to stock. The Chicago store includes a large department devoted to children’s books, along with a good selection of books dedicated to local interests. Amazon’s tech devices take up about half the space, according to
